The Research & Training Center on Blindness & Low Vision at Mississippi State University has two new research projects and is seeking participants for each. Both involve employment.
The first project is for professionals who are legally blind. To be eligible, you must be legally blind, currently employed or retired from a professional career, and have basic computer literacy and knowledge of accessibility software/hardware needed to access online materials. You must be willing to participate from January 2012 through up to 12 months after your mentee graduates; help your mentee develop career goals and offer opportunities for job shadowing; have face-to-face contact with your mentee 4 hours a month; and complete online activities monthly.

The second project seeks students who are looking for employment after graduation. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student, under age 35; legally blind; plan to graduate within 2-3 semesters after January 2012; expect to seek employment after graduation; and have basic computer literacy and knowledge of accessibility software/hardware needed to access online materials. Your participation would begin in January 2012, and run through up to 12 months after graduation. You would need to have face-to-face contact with your mentor 4 hours a month, and complete online activities monthly.
