Accessibility & Training Services (A.T.S.)
ACB is a national, membership-driven organization with 8,000 members and 65 affiliates, representing states and special interests. We strive to increase the independence, security, equality of opportunity, and quality of life for all people who are blind or low vision.
Advocating for Accessibility
At ACB, we're passionate about improving accessibility in all aspects of life. If you are a person who is blind or has low vision and are experiencing an accessibility issue, we'd like to hear about it. Together, we can advocate for improved accessibility to help create a more inclusive society for all. Email us at [email protected] or complete our accessibility request form. (Please note that ACB does not provide technical support for specific accessibility issues.)
Accessibility Services
The goal of our Accessibility & Training Services program is to advocate for equal access for people who are blind or have low vision in all aspects of life—including the workplace, websites, apps, products, services, and experiences. Whether at the individual-level, or through your organization, we collaborate closely with you to provide a full range of tailored accessibility services that meet your specific needs.
Assessment, Remediation, and Monitoring
We “ARM” you for accessibility by assessing, remediating, and monitoring. The assessment of websites and mobile applications for accessibility by those with a wide range of disabilities involves in-depth evaluation of how people interact with the various features of digital content. Remediation is the “fixing” of those areas identified as obstacles to access for individuals with disabilities. As content is changed, monitoring helps ensure your information remains accessible to everyone.
Usability Testing
In addition to the professional assessments we provide, usability testing is also one of our greatest tools. Our wide-ranging membership makeup allows ACB to give feedback from many perspectives; age, assistive technology proficiency, specific disability, and more.
Training Services
Our customized training sessions offer organizations an easy and effective way to better understand accessibility considerations. ACB experts can provide one-time or ongoing training presentations for your organization or clients. This training provides practical knowledge and recommendations, enabling teams to address gaps and make improvements right away. Training can cover a range of relevant topics, including:
- Audio Description
- Disability Inclusion
- Accessibility in the Workplace
- Assistive Technology
- Other topics you believe would be helpful for your specific needs
Surveys
Gain access to our network of 8,000 knowledgeable members through targeted surveys with a highly relevant audience. No matter the industry, your organization can gather valuable insights on the real-world viability of projects and understand precisely how they’re perceived.
