Multicultural Affairs Committee Host Focus Call
The Multicultural Affairs Committee (MCAC) will hold its spring focus call on Thursday, May 26th, at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific. We will focus on the topic “Congenital Blindness vs. Losing Sight Later in Life.” Are there cultural biases or beliefs on this topic? Does one group have a distinct advantage over the other? How does having had sight factor in adjusting to blindness? Or does the congenitally blind individual have the ability to adjust easier to his/her circumstances and surroundings?
We’d love to hear your ideas and experiences. To join us on the call, dial (712) 432-3066, and use passcode 840878#.
A Few Changes to the FIA Showcase This Year
For those who are considering auditioning for the FIA 2016 Showcase of the Performing Arts in Minneapolis, please note that there will be no band this year. We are allowing the use of recorded tracks under certain conditions. If you are planning to audition and need an accompanist, please tell us what you intend to perform as soon as possible so we can find someone to accompany you. If need be, we will hire a sighted accompanist. If you have questions, or need more information, send an e-mail to Lynn Hedl, [email protected].
