Fall 2017 Conventions
Sept. 14-17:
ACB of Texas state convention at the Doubletree by Hilton Dallas. Room rates are $95 per night plus tax. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel at 1-800-222-8733. The deadline to make reservations and receive the group rate is August 30th. Be sure to mention that you are with ACB when you make your reservations.

Sept. 22-24:
Oklahoma’s state convention at the Tower Hotel, 3233 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City. Room rates are $73 per night plus tax for one to four people per room. Make reservations by calling (405) 842-6633; let them know you are with the Oklahoma Council of the Blind. Our theme is “Saddle Up to OCB.”
Convention highlights include an educational training seminar on Friday; a barbecue dinner, and western games. On Saturday, the exhibit hall will feature vendors from across the state. We’ll also hold breakout sessions on the latest available technology, workshops on how to cope with vision loss, and more; and hold a banquet Saturday night. Sunday morning features a non-denominational church service, followed by the OCB business meeting.

Sept. 29-Oct. 1:
Mountain State Council of the Blind’s annual convention at the South Branch Inn, 64 Heritage Circle, Romney, WV 26757; phone (304) 822-2444. Room rates are $91 per night plus tax for up to 4 people per room. Make reservations by Sept. 15th. Activities begin Friday afternoon with a Technology Expo and an Escape Room activity. MSCB’s annual business meeting will be Saturday afternoon. A brief walking tour of historic Romney will precede the business meeting. The banquet will be held Saturday evening. ACB’s director of advocacy and governmental affairs, Tony Stephens, will be the featured speaker. The convention concludes with Sunday’s continental breakfast and the board meeting. Oct. 5-8:
Missouri’s 61st annual convention will be held at the Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Mo. To reserve your room, call (816) 753-7400, or go to www.kcplazahotel.com.
There will be an exhibit hall, open Thursday and Friday, as well as a craft marketplace. General sessions will be held Friday through Sunday. Oct. 7:

Oct. 20-22:
ACB of Ohio and ACB of Indiana joint convention at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. Friday’s program includes sessions on self-driving vehicles and ride-sharing apps, enjoying the water park and resort features in the evening, or socializing with friends in the hospitality suite. Saturday features include learning about assistive and mainstream technology, meeting the 2017 scholarship winners, and a speech from talking book narrator Laura Giannarelli, as well as an auction.

Kalahari room rates are $109 plus tax for guests arriving Oct. 19, $139 plus tax for those checking in Oct. 20. To make reservations, call 1-877-525-2427 and mention the American Council of the Blind of Ohio. After Sept. 15, rooms may be available at the group rate but are not guaranteed.
Oct. 20-22:
ACB of New York state convention at the Radisson Hotel Utica Centre, 200 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502; phone (315) 797‐8010.
Plans include a tour to the Saranac Brewery on Thursday afternoon, and the president’s leadership dinner and training in the evening. Friday features include breakfast, a town meeting, and the opening session. Friday night offerings include the ACBNY scholarship fundraiser with dinner, live music and a comedian. Saturday morning features a breakfast followed by your choice of one of the following events: Guide Dog Users of the Empire State, the New York State Council of Citizens with Low Vision, or a children’s event. The children’s event will have live animals, braille and folks who work in the field of emergency management. The annual board meeting will be held on Sunday.

Oct. 26-29:
Pennsylvania Council of the Blind’s 82nd annual convention at the DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh Green Tree, 500 Mansfield Ave., Pittsburgh. For reservations, call 1-800-222-8733. Room rates are $99 per night, plus tax; make your reservations by Sept. 16.
