WILL YOU MEET THE DKM CHALLENGE?

What we need is a good challenge now and then to stimulate our benevolent spirit and convince us to support a worthy cause. The DKM First-Timer committee has just the challenge and the cause for ACB members and affiliates.

In 2011, as in previous years, the Durward K. McDaniel First-Timers' Awards will recognize two ACB members who have never attended the national conference and convention. Each first-timer will receive transportation, lodging and a meal stipend for the entire convention week. The two recipients met their special challenges through the competition and selection process.

Now, the DKM committee extends its own challenge to the ACB family to provide financial support to the first-timer program. If each ACB affiliate contributes at least $100, first-timer costs will be covered. Contributions may be sent to DKM First-Timers, American Council of the Blind, 6300 Shingle Creek Pkwy., Suite 195, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430.

When the 2011 DKM first-timers are recognized in the opening session Sunday evening, July 10, you can stand with them knowing that you also met a special challenge.
