I DO NOT STOP BECAUSE THE SIGN IS RED

Some reach their self-portraits
by eyelashing at mirrors,

but, sightless, what I reflect
is at my fingertips

fluttering
outside the bus window,

reaching for sweet-scented fields
of timothy where the reaches

of my hand suddenly glow
crimson as I touch a sign

at seventy miles an hour.
