Recipients of the Durward K. McDaniel First Timer and J.P. Morgan Chase Leadership Fellow Awards Speak Out

"Experience of a Lifetime"

Read comments from the recipients of the Durward K. McDaniel First Timer and J.P. Morgan Chase Leadership Fellow Awards after their attendance at the 2017 ACB Conference and Convention in Sparks, Nevada.

"When you first take a look at all of the programs offered, your eyes cross and your mind stops.  You have to form a plan as to what you most want to learn about and experience during this week-long convention.  The Durward K. McDaniel Committee was there to answer any questions and help guide me through this process,  Committee chair, Kenneth Semien, Sr. was a great mentor"  "Sitting in the general sessions, (hearing) the information from the various sponsors and the developments that each were working on was captivating!"  Lori Allison

"I attended the ACB Board of Directors meeting on Friday.  I really enjoyed the level of professionalism and the transparency shown at this meeting.  ACB is moving into the world of modern non-profit organizations and I am excited to see where we go from here.  The passion that everyone feels for ACB's Vision for the future is very apparent and alive." Sarah Harris

"I enjoyed the workshops I attended and learned much.  What a great chance to gather information in multiple areas.  I believe the workshop I liked the most was the Leadership Institute where we role played different situations and the lady in charge was Rebecca Bridges." Graham Steel

"All the (J.P. Morgan Chase) representatives seemed motivated to support ACB;s mission and make their business accessible for persons experiencing vision loss."

"Our limited time together did not allow one to partake of all the possible learning opportunities.  Therefore, I am looking forward to the "Lead & Learn" calls as a great year-round tool for leadership development."  Michelle Zentz

"I think of how my leadership development journey is much like a building block. The J.P. Morgan Chase Leadership Fellows program has assisted me by adding building blocks of leadership development  and is helping to build upon my skills one opportunity at a time, one thought at a time and one relationship at a time."  Anthony Akamine

"During the course of the week, many encounters and events filled me with a series of empowerment and admiration.  I met dozens of fantastic leaders and collected their words of wisdom like little bits of treasure.  My self confidence was reinforced and I learned to more readily embrace my freedom to advocate for myself and others and to accept that I will continue to grow as a leader."  Daisy Russell
