Braille Cards Dot Com began with a meeting between two friends; one sighted and one blind. Nebraska Foundation for Visually Impaired Children
Due to a growing concern of parents with children with visual impairments in the early 1960’s, a group of compassionate women began the Omaha Sight Center Nursery at the Beth El Synagogue. To better meet the needs of these families, these women incorporated the Nebraska Foundation for the Visually Handicapped (NFVH) so that they could receive a $10,000 grant from the Reply Center. This money was used to start a pre-school at JP Lords’s facility for the children at the Omaha Sight Center.

The state vocational rehabilitation agency providing training in alternative techniques so that blind and visually impaired citizens may live independently.

Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired
The Nebraska Center for the Education of Children Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired serves children from infancy to age 21. NCECBVI's program offers the expertise and specialized skills of the center's staff to blind, visually impaired, and multi-handicapped students in residential, day, and outreach settings. Services are provided to local school districts, students, families, teachers, and other support staff, upon request.
