Minnesota

The American Council of the Blind of Minnesota (ACBM) began in the early 1970's, as the "Gopher State Blind Association." The name was changed to the American Council of the Blind of Minnesota in the early 1980's, when the organization became formally affiliated with the American Council of the Blind (ACB).

The American Council of the Blind of Minnesota is an organization that looks to the future, while recognizing the lessons taught by the past. Please join ACBM in making a better future for all blind Minnesotans.

ACBM is a 501(c)(3) organization. If you would like to donate, it will be tax deductible.

Annual ACBM Picnic on August 23rd

Come one and all to the annual ACBM picnic and auction! It will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at Colleen Kitagawa's home, 6439 Stevens Avenue South in Richfield. The cost is $12.00 this year. You can now pay through Paypal and you don't need to have a PayPal account. Just go to the ACBM website and click on the "Donate" button near the top of the home page.

We will be having hamburgers and hot-dogs with a couple of sides, watermelon and a sweet or two.

If you have any ideas for a source of tables and chairs and a canopy, please let us know. Ideas could be your church, local school or community center for chairs and tables. Last year we had to rent them and it was quite expensive.

We will also be holding our auction so please bring items to sell and lots of money to buy. Bring something you think would create a bidding war! Be creative and offer a gift certificate for a dinner or computer service. Think outside the box! Anything chocolate always seems to do well !!!

RSVP to Colleen by telephone (612) 869-8584
or
e-mail kitagawa@samobile.net

If you need to cancel your picnic reservation, please do so by Noon on Thursday, August 21st or you will be charged the full cost of the meal.

Reminders:

Colleen's yard is mostly sunny. In case you do sit in the sun, you might consider bringing a hat or sun screen.

The gate will be open so please make sure your dog is under your control at all times. There is a designated area in the yard for dog relieving.

We look forward to seeing you at the picnic and auction on Saturday, August 23rd.
