The American Council of the Blind of Minnesota (ACBM) began in the early 1970's, as the "Gopher State Blind Association." The name was changed to the American Council of the Blind of Minnesota in the early 1980's, when the organization became formally affiliated with the American Council of the Blind (ACB).

The American Council of the Blind of Minnesota is an organization that looks to the future, while recognizing the lessons taught by the past. Please join ACBM in making a better future for all blind Minnesotans.

ACBM is a 501(c)(3) organization. If you would like to donate, it will be tax deductible.

ACBM Coffee Gathering - 2nd Saturday of the month Quarterly Meeting and Elections - April 26, 2014
 
 

Quarterly Meeting on April 26th at Joseph's Grille in St. Paul


Our April quarterly meeting will be held on Saturday, April 26th at Joseph's Grille, 140 S Wabasha, in Saint Paul.
Social hour is from 11:30 until 12:30 followed by lunch and our business meeting.

The meeting will conclude by 4:00 PM.

Luncheon choices are:

  1. Reuben Sandwich: Thinly sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on marbled Rye, side of Thousand Island dressing, served with French fries.
  2. Cheese burger, served with French fries.
  3. Classic Caesar Salad: Romaine leaves tossed in our own Caesar dressing with grilled chicken breast fresh parmesan cheese and garnished with Focaccia croutons. (this salad is available without chicken as a vegetarian option.)

Meal cost is $12.00.

Elections will be held for:

Vice-President:
At last yearís elections when our then vice-president Nicky Schlender was elected president, Jeff Mihelich was elected vice-president. Jeff is serving a 1-year term as VP and plans to run for this position again.

Treasurer:
David Tanner, our current treasurer, is eligible to run again for this office and plans to do so.

Board positions:
There are three open board positions currently held by Coleen Kitagawa, Steve Robertson and Jeff West. Steve and Jeff are both eligible to run again for the board and plan to do so.

If you have questions about the duties of the open offices, feel free to contact the nominating committee. If you would like to nominate yourself or another individual (with their permission) please let us know.

As always candidates can be nominated from the floor at the meeting.

  • Second reading and discussion on Article 5 of ACBM's bylaws

Cancellation policy: If you make a reservation and then find you are unable to attend, please call Steve by noon on Friday April 25th. If you cancel after that time you will be responsible for paying for your meal.
